Marathon and Beyond Monday: You Want to Put on a Marathon — Where?

If you can’t make it to your favorite marathon then bring the marathon to you. That was the basic thinking of United States Army Captain Ivan Hurlburt who was serving in Afghanistan with fellow soldiers from the 25th Infantry Division based in Hawaii. As runners, they dreamed of being at home, running the Honolulu Marathon but knew that wasn’t possible. That’s how the first marathon in Afghanistan came to be. Today on Endurance Planet — a Marathon & Beyond Monday edition — we hear Hurlburt’s story titled “You Want to Put on a Marathon — Where?” This edition is brought to you by Sock Geek.
